Cultivating a creative community. That is the mission of The Golden Husk, the historic theater located in downtown Ord named after the beautiful acoustical walls constructed with corn husks. The Valley Performing Arts Theater (VPAT), purchased the facility with a grand vision to create a hub for engaging creative resources, empowering community connection and enriching quality of life. The VPAT Board is committed to providing a space where community members connect and celebrate the talents and gifts of our local people and enjoy arts and cultural events.

The Valley Performing Arts Theater, Inc. (VPAT) is a 501c(3) nonprofit public charity organization doing business as The Golden Husk Theatre. The vision for The Golden Husk is to create a hub for engaging creative resources, empowering community connection, and enriching quality of life. It is a place for people to enjoy sharing artistic expressions, educational experiences, and community celebrations. The VPAT Board invites the community to enjoy the exciting season of events planned at the Theatre throughout the year. The VPAT Board is pleased to serve the community by providing space for people to build relationships, explore creative passions, and embrace arts and cultural experiences. 

The 2021 Big Give to Valley County donations will support facility renovations and technology upgrades. Two projects we are currently working on are repairing the theatre roof and purchasing a new large venue laser projector. Your donations will enable The Golden Husk to preserve the beautiful, historic theatre and provide exceptional arts and cultural experiences for our community and the surrounding areas in rural Nebraska. 
Theatre lobby is open on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3 pm and Thursday mornings from 10 am to noon.
